Episode 17, titled “The Thief Who Collaborates,” takes a surprisingly emotional turn for the tokusatsu series. The plot centers on Gavan teaming up with an unlikely ally; a phantom thief whose moral code clashes with the Galaxy Federal Police’s by-the-book approach. What makes this episode stand out is how it leans into its themes with “LOVE IS STRONGEST” as a recurring motif, using character-driven moments over pure spectacle. The action is still there, with a sharp fight sequence against a gold-and-black mecha that showcases the series’ polished suit and CGI work, but the real weight comes from the trust-building between Gavan and the thief. The direction slows down to let those beats land, giving Reiji more depth than the usual monster-of-the-week formula.
The episode’s other big swing is its soundtrack, incorporating Beethoven’s 9th Symphony into key scenes. It’s an odd choice on paper for a Space Sheriff show, but the classical arrangement elevates the finale and sells the “love conquers all” tone without feeling like parody. Visually, it keeps the Infinity series’ high production values — armored hero shots, futuristic tech, and the kind of dramatic lighting fans expect from the franchise. While it’s still episodic and doesn’t push the main arc forward much, ep 17 works as a strong standalone about unlikely collaboration. If you’re into tokusatsu that balances silliness with sincerity, this one’s worth the watch.
